Microsoft is shutting down its document scanning app

Microsoft is shutting down its popular document scanning app, Microsoft Lens. As announced by the 50-year-old software giant, the app for iOS and Android will be phased out by the end of 2025. The phase-out will begin on September 15 with a likely end on December 15, when users will no longer be able to create new scans. The move comes just weeks before Microsoft ends support for Windows 10 in October.

To recall, Microsoft Lens is a free app that debuted in March 2014 as Office Lens on Windows Phone. The app is a year older than Windows 10 and has been one of Microsoft’s highest-rated free apps on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
