Karnataka seeks explanation from TCS over ‘layoff’ of 12,000 employees

Bengaluru: Expressing deep concern over reports of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) laying off 12,000 employees, Labour Minister Santosh Lad on Thursday said his department has sought an explanation from India’s largest IT service firm over its decision.

Speaking to reporters, Lad said that a union had submitted a letter to the department three days ago, raising concerns over the layoffs. “Three days ago, a union submitted a letter. Our department is looking into it,” he confirmed.
