New Delhi: For the first time, India overtook China to become the leading supplier of smartphones to the US in the June quarter. This was largely fuelled by Apple’s move to expedite shifting of iPhone assembly operations to India from China amid tariff uncertainties under the Trump administration, according to research firm Canalys.
The uncertain outcome of ongoing negotiations between Washington and Beijing over a trade deal has accelerated Apple’s supply chain restructuring, it said.
