Govt to extend deadline for ECMS beyond July 31

The government will be extending the application window for the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) beyond 31 July, government sources said on Thursday.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will be extending the scheme for a ‘few days’ given the healthy response from the industry, a Ministry official said. The 3-month application window for the nearly ₹22,919 crore scheme has already seen many applications, he said. However, the decision to extend the deadline was finalised after companies had asked for the same, industry sources said. The applications for the six-year scheme opened on May 1 through a dedicated portal.
