Spectrum for Captive Non-Public Networks

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a demand survey to evaluate the requirement for direct assignment of spectrum for Captive Non-Public Networks (CNPNs). This initiative follows earlier guidelines that permitted enterprises to establish their own private 4G/5G networks, either using spectrum assigned to Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) or through direct spectrum allocation. The objective is to offer enterprises secure, low-latency, high-reliability connectivity suited to their specific operational needs. The current survey reflects the government’s intent to reassess frequency band requirements in view of the evolving device ecosystem and growing interest from system integrators in deploying CNPN-based networks.
