More spectrum in 700 MHz band for Railways

In a decisive move underscoring its regulatory independence and commitment to rational spectrum management, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has on July 4, 2025 rejected the Department of Telecommunications (DoT)’s reservations concerning the allocation of additional spectrum to Indian Railways for its safety and security applications. This rejection came in response to a back-reference dated June 16, 2025, wherein the DoT had sought reconsideration of Trai’s earlier recommendations made on December 20, 2024.
