Digital Consent

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has initiated a pilot project aimed at establishing a robust digital consent management framework. This strategic partnership marks a crucial step toward ensuring that commercial communications are carried out only with valid, verifiable consumer consent. The project targets the pressing issue of unsolicited messages and spam calls, particularly from businesses claiming to have received consumer consent through unverifiable means. By introducing a system rooted in digital verification, the initiative aims to enhance transparency, safeguard consumer rights and restore trust in legitimate commercial messaging.
