MIB proposes overhaul of TV rating guidelines to attract more players

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is overhauling television rating agency norms by proposing the removal of restrictions on board members’ ties to media businesses and scrapping cross-holding limits, paving the way for broader industry participation.

Other key changes include updating eligibility to companies registered under the Companies Act, 2013, and tightening conflict-of-interest rules by banning consultancy or advisory roles that could compromise a rating agency’s core function of audience measurement.
