Why IT needs framework for responsible agentic AI

The IT industry needs to come up with standards and frameworks for the responsible deployment of agentic artificial intelligence, as this technology can carry out tasks autonomously with minimal human oversight, experts and senior executives of companies such as Infosys and Tech Mahindra told ET.

Agentic AI, the next frontier after Generative AI, is seen as a large opportunity for the industry as it can boost efficiencies significantly. But the risks and stakes are higher as these agents influence real-time decisions, executives said. Unintended outcomes could be “potentially perilous”, demanding stronger safeguards to enable deployment at scale, they added.
