Vi partners with AST SpaceMobile to expand mobile connectivity in remote parts of country

Vi (previously Vodafone Idea) has partnered with AST SpaceMobile to bring space-based mobile broadband connectivity to remote and hard-to-reach areas across India, the two companies announced today. The collaboration aims to use satellite technology to complement existing mobile networks and expand access to voice, video, and internet services without needing special devices or software.

AST SpaceMobile is building a space-based cellular broadband network that connects directly to everyday smartphones. The company recently made the first voice and video call from space using a standard mobile phone, showing the practical use of its technology.
