India’s telecom giants, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, have reportedly raised concerns over the proposed pricing of satellite spectrum, warning that “unjustifiably low” rates could harm their businesses while benefiting satellite internet providers like Elon Musk’s Starlink. According to a report by the news agency Reuters, The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), representing these companies, urged the telecom ministry in a May 29 letter to reconsider the pricing structure proposed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

In May, TRAI suggested that satellite service providers pay 4% of their annual revenue to the government for offering services.
