India leads global ChatGPT usage, surpasses US

India has emerged as the largest user base for ChatGPT, overtaking the United States in monthly active users, according to a new AI trends report. The country now accounts for 13.5% of global ChatGPT users, surpassing the U.S. (8.9%) and Indonesia (5.7%). The findings, part of Mary Meeker’s AI Trends Report, highlight India’s growing adoption of AI-powered tools. The report also ranks India third globally in usage of the DeepSeek mobile app, trailing China (33.9%) and Russia (9.2%).
