Digital Social Security Cards launching soon by SSA: Know what it means for Americans and how to get it online

In a landmark modernization effort, the US Social Security Administration (SSA) is preparing to roll out a secure, digital method for Americans to access their Social Security numbers (SSNs) online. Starting in early summer 2025, individuals with a My Social Security account will be able to view their SSNs directly through the SSA portal.

This initiative is aimed at reducing reliance on traditional paper-based cards, cutting wait times for replacements, and enhancing user convenience and security. The move reflects SSA’s broader goal of adapting to digital trends while safeguarding sensitive personal information in an increasingly cyber-connected world.
