Vivo’s X200 Ultra wants to be the DSLR in your pocket

Vivo has a new phone out, it’s still to decide we should be calling it a phone phone or should we just call it a camera. The phone we’re talking about is the X200 Ultra, and it’s making a serious play to replace your dedicated camera. The standout feature? An optional telephoto converter lens that transforms this already capable phone into something that starts to rival the full frame cameras.

Starting at 6,499 yuan, the X200 Ultra packs quite a punch with its triple camera setup. There’s a 50MP 35mm main camera — a refreshing departure from the standard 24mm lenses we see on most phones — alongside a 50MP ultrawide that shares the same large sensor as the main shooter. Then there’s that 200MP telephoto with 3.7x optical zoom.
