Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis predicts ‘single drug’ that may be END of all diseases
Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis has said that artificial intelligence (AI) can help eradicate all diseases within the next 10 years. In a conversation with CBS News’ Scott Pelly, Hassabis said “It takes ten years and billions of dollars to design just one drug. We can maybe reduce that down from years to maybe months or maybe even weeks. Which sounds incredible today but that’s also what people used to think about protein structures.”
Demis Hassabis was awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry along with Google DeepMind Director Dr. John Jumper for their work developing AlphaFold. Hassabis currently heads DeepMind, an AI research laboratory owned by Google’s parent Alphabet Inc.
