Apple’s formula can mean a bumper crop: Is India ready?

A formula Apple is adopting to save itself from crippling tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump can translate into huge gains for India across the electronics manufacturing sector. Apple is considering India as a key location to expand its iPhone manufacturing operations, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. Though the move is a short-term strategy while the company seeks an exemption from the tariffs as it had received during Trump’s previous term, if that doesn’t happen it will have to consider expanding production in India since tariffs on India are lower than on China and Vietnam.
