Foxconn, the world’s largest contract manufacturer and primary OEM for Apple’s iPhones, has publicly stated its desire to collaborate with Japanese automaker Nissan. According to an interview published in the Nikkei newspaper with a top executive from the Taiwanese company’s electric vehicle (EV) division, no formal engagement is currently underway. The executive reportedly said that currently the company is not engaging with the Japanese automaker.

Jun Seki, Foxconn’s Chief Strategy Officer for EVs and a former senior Nissan executive, made the remarks ahead of a seminar in Tokyo on Wednesday, April 9.
