T20 League: Vodafone Idea expands 5G services near stadiums in 11 cities
Vodafone Idea (Vi) on Monday said it has expanded its fifth-generation (5G) services to major cricket stadiums in 11 cities across India. This follows the telco switching on its commercial 5G services in Mumbai in late March.
“Cricket fans will now be able to experience the power of Vi 5G in stadiums Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam,” the telco said in a statement.
Currently, the India T20 league, which takes place annually from March to May, is being played at these venues.
For providing a seamless 5G experience at high-footfall stadiums, Vi said it has deployed additional 5G network sites and strengthened its network with technologies such ass massive MIMO and others.
“These network expansions are designed to provide the best digital experience, ensuring fans can enjoy fast, reliable connectivity even in jam-packed stadiums,” Vi said.
In the stadiums’ vicinity, Vi has installed a total of 53 5G sites, enhanced capacity in 44 sites, and deployed 9 Cell On Wheels (CoW), ensuring that fans can stay connected constantly.
Further, Vi customers who are unable to watch the match live at the stadiums can experience it from the comfort of their home or on the go, with Vi recharge packs that offer a subscription to Jio Hotstar along with unlimited data, starting at Rs 101.
