Curbing UCC

In response to the growing menace of Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC), the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has updated the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR), 2018. The recent amendments are designed to address the evolving tactics of spammers and reinforce consumer protection measures, ensuring a more transparent and secure commercial communication environment.

The amendments introduced several key features, including an easier process for consumers to report spam and a revamped complaint mechanism. Consumers can now file complaints against UCC calls and messages from unregistered senders without prior preference registration.
