Global scam calls surge in India as fraudsters exploit cheap international routes

Kolkata: The menace of fraudulent calls and phishing attempts is donning new shades. Scamsters and spammers are now going global, bombarding hapless Indian consumers with innumerable spam calls – routed into the country via overseas telecom networks – as it is a lot cheaper and also amid the government crackdown on spam calls originating from Indian numbers.
