Google confirms Chromecast ‘Untrusted Device’ error; here’s what the company said

Chromecast users have reported an “untrusted device” error that is preventing them from using their devices. Google has acknowledged the problem and stated they are currently working on a solution. In the meantime, the tech giant is advising affected users not to factory reset their devices, as this action will prevent the Chromecast from reconnecting to Wi-Fi. The issue appears to be primarily affecting second-generation Chromecast and Chromecast Audio devices, displaying an error message stating, “device couldn’t be verified. This could be caused by outdated device firmware.” However, the timeline for when Google will release a fix for this “untrusted device” error remains unclear.
