Apple shareholders reject policy ‘changes’ that Meta, Google, Amazon and other tech giants ‘approved’
Apple shareholders have rejected a proposal that sought to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programmes, a report has said. The vote, which took place at Apple’s annual shareholder meeting this week, demonstrated strong support for DEI efforts that were scaled back by tech companies including Amazon, Google and Facebook-parent Meta.
According to a report by news agency Reuters, the proposal to “Cease DEI Efforts,” submitted by think tank National Center for Public Policy Research, was heavily defeated, with 8.84 billion votes against and only 210.45 million votes in favour.
