Humane is selling itself to HP for $116 million and shutting down the AI Pin

HP has acquired the majority of Humane’s assets for $116 million, marking the end of the ambitious AI Pin wearable device that aimed to replace smartphones. Humane announced Tuesday that it will cease all AI Pin sales immediately and discontinue service for existing devices on February 28, 2025.

The acquisition brings Humane’s technology stack and engineering talent to HP, but notably excludes the hardware business behind the controversial AI Pin. Humane’s founders, former Apple executives Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, will lead a new HP division called HP IQ, focused on integrating artificial intelligence across HP’s product lineup.
