Elon Musk denies reports of Tesla securing $400 Million US Government contract for armored EVs: “No one mentioned it to me, at least.”

Elon Musk has refuted claims that Tesla was awarded a $400 million contract by the U.S. State Department for producing armored electric vehicles. Earlier reports from sources such as Drop Site News and The New York Times suggested that Tesla was included in the 2025 government procurement forecast. However, a revised version of the document has since removed Tesla’s name, leaving only a reference to “Armored Electric Vehicles.” Meanwhile, BMW’s armored X5 and X7 SUVs remain listed. The sudden removal of Tesla from the document has fueled speculation regarding the reasons behind the change and whether Tesla was ever officially considered for the contract in the first place.
