Union Budget 2025: Government reduces BCD to 10% on carrier-grade Ethernet switches, says Sitharaman

NEW DELHI: The Centre is reducing basic customs duty (BCD) on carrier-grade Ethernet switches from 20% to 10% to make it at par with non-carrier-grade Ethernet switches and prevent disputes, union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Saturday. According to industry experts and executives, the move is likely to reduce litigations and lead to economical telecom infrastructure costs.
