Chinese-made AI model DeepSeek safe for use in India, says government source

NEW DELHI: DeepSeek, a Chinese-made artificial intelligence (AI) model, is safe to use in India, according to a source from the government. The source also assured that there are no concerns regarding data transfer to China.

“It is safe to use in India. I can assure you there is no data transfer of Indian users’ information to China when using this chatbot,” the source stated. DeepSeek, a little-known Chinese start-up, has caused a stir in the global tech sector with the release of its low-cost AI model. It functions similar to Google’s Gemini and OpenAI.
