For years, companies in the US, like OpenAI, Meta, and Google, have been at the forefront of AI development. But now, China has made a major move with DeepSeek-V3, a model that rivals the best AI systems out there, yet costs much less to build. This is especially surprising because the US had restricted China’s access to key AI hardware, like NVIDIA’s powerful chips, to slow down its progress.
