Google bets $1 billion more on this ChatGPT rival

Google is expected to offer artificial intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic a fresh investment of over $1 billion, a report claims. This investment comes after Anthropic was reportedly close to securing $2 billion in funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, valuing the company at around $60 billion. According to a new report by The Financial Times, Google’s latest investment is separate from the Lightspeed funding round. This move will allow Google to compete better in the rapidly growing field of AI with other players including Microsoft-backed ChatGPT maker OpenAI. However, neither Google nor Anthropic. which is a major competitor of OpenAI in the AI foundation model space, has made an official announcement about the same.
