EU plans to expand TikTok-like probe into Elon Musk-owned X

The European Union (EU) is considering expanding its investigation into Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, over content moderation and political interference. According to Henna Virkkunen, the European Commission’s executive vice president, the bloc is working to determine if the platform has violated the content moderation rules.

“We are currently assessing if the scope is large enough,” Virkkunen told Bloomberg TV. The Commission initiated formal proceedings against X in December 2023, alleging the platform’s failure to adequately address illegal content and disinformation.
