Amazon’s AI head says company will relaunch Alexa as AI agent, explains what’s causing delay
Amazon is preparing to relaunch Alexa, its voice-powered assistant, as an AI “agent” capable of completing practical tasks, a top executive from the company has said. This comes as the company competitors like Google and Microsoft have already integrated ‘agentic’ generative AI into the system.
According to a report by The Financial Times, over the past two years, Amazon has focused on redesigning Alexa, present in over 500 million devices worldwide, by incorporating generative AI into its core – or transplanting the software’s “brain” with generative AI.
