Meta to discontinue fact-checking, rely on user-based filtration: Zuckerberg

New Delhi: Meta Platforms chief executive Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday announced a decision to do away with the company’s long-standing fact checking teams—choosing instead to establish a ‘community notes’ mechanism akin to Elon Musk’s X, formerly Twitter.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, Zuckerberg labelled the move as “time to get back to our roots of free expression on Facebook and Instagram”.
