Chinese hacking of US telecom giants may be ‘more dangerous’ than thought
Recent revelations have shed light on the extent of Chinese hacking operations targeting major US telecommunications companies, revealing a far more dangerous situation than previously understood. The cyber-espionage campaign, attributed to the Chinese-linked group known as Salt Typhoon, has compromised the networks of at least nine US telecom firms, including industry giants AT&T and Verizon.
As reported by WSJ, the hackers gained access to sensitive network data and intercepted phone calls, targeting high-profile individuals, including senior US government officials and prominent political figures.
