Civil Aviation ministry clarifies the Income Tax ‘link to Digi Yatra app

The Ministry of Civil Aviation strongly refuted claims today that passenger data from the Digi Yatra app is being shared with tax authorities, addressing the report by The New Indian Express, which claimed potential tax surveillance through the digital travel platform.

In an official statement posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), the ministry emphasized that the Digi Yatra app operates on a Self-Sovereign Identity model, which ensures that all personal identifiable information remains exclusively on users’ devices rather than in any central repository.
