Pay DTH active subscriber base slides to 59.91 mn in Q2 FY25: TRAI
During the quarter ending September 30, 2024, Pay DTH attained total active subscriber base of 59.91 million, which is a decline from 62.17 million in June 2024. This is in addition to the subscribers of the DD Free Dish (free DTH services of Doordarshan). This is revealed in the latest edition of TRAI’s “Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report”.
This Report provides a broad perspective of the Telecom Services in India and presents the key parameters and growth trends of the Telecom Services as well as Cable TV, DTH and Radio Broadcasting services in India for the period covering July 1, 2024 to September 30, 2024.
As per the report, quarterly growth in the DTH sector in terms of the total active subscriber base is as follows:
As far as market share of DTH operators in terms of percentage of total active subscribers during the quarter is concerned, Tata Play leads with a market share of 31.99%. Bharti Airtel follows in second spot with 29.38% share of the total active subscribers. Dish TV and Sun Direct TV are neck and neck vying for the third spot, with Dish TV slightly ahead with 19.53% share, followed by Sun Direct TV with 19.10% share.
