Digital pollution: ‘Illegal’ Internet cables choking Pune skyline

Once known for its lush greenery and serene skyline, Pune is now grappling with a web of illegal overhead internet cables, as activists said these wires, put “illegally” over trees, street lamps, and other structures, are threatening birds and public safety.

Among the areas where these overheard cables are prominently visible are some of the city’s busy roads such as F C Road, Goodluck Chowk, and Bal Gandharva Chowk on J M Road — which is near the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
