“Outrageous”: Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon on Arm’s demand in legal battle

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon has testified in a legal battle against chip designer Arm Holdings, terming Arm’s demands in licensing dispute “outrageous”. He also accused the British semiconductor and software design company of misleading Qualcomm’s customers, including Samsung, by falsely claiming that a license to use Arm’s technology would expire in 2025.
“That was not good for Qualcomm, our customers, or frankly, for Arm,” Amon told jurors, while clarifying that the license actually extends until 2033, as per a Bloomberg report.
During cross-examination, Amon affirmed that Qualcomm will honour valid licensing agreements and refuted Arm’s claim that Qualcomm knowingly violated the terms of its license.
