Activision faces backlash for ‘AI mistakes’ in Call of Duty Black Ops 6

Microsoft-owned gaming studio Activision has come under after making some alleged AI mistakes in the newly released Call of Duty Black Ops 6 game. Several members of the Call of Duty community took to social media platforms X (earlier Twitter) and Reddit to express their concern and disappointment over the apparent use of AI-generated artwork in Black Ops 6. Screenshots shared on social media showed loading screens of the game featuring a Zombie Santa Claus and a gloved hand holding Gobblegums with visual inconsistencies such as extra fingers and unnatural anatomy. While some argue that these could be unintentional errors, the prevalence of such inconsistencies has led many to accuse the game’s developers of using AI-generated art for visual elements despite having a huge budget. This has sparked criticism among fans who expected higher-quality artwork for the AAA title.
