Lack of accessibility features in films: Delhi HC seeks response of Centre, movie makers, OTT platform
The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought responses from the Union government, production houses, and the OTT platform of Amazon on a plea by visually challenged lawyers seeking to incorporate audio description and other accessibility features in movies released on OTT platforms and big screens.
The petition was moved by Akshat Baldwa, a final-year student at National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, and disability activist Rahul Bajaj. They contended that “the failure to incorporate accessibility features in Stree 2 and Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha constitutes a violation of statutory and constitutional rights.” In another petition by Bajaj, similar facilities have been demanded for the recent theatrical release Pushpa 2.
