Why this shooter game is ‘responsible’ for Ubisoft cutting 277 jobs and shutting down multiple studios

Ubisoft has announced the closure of its free-to-play first-person shooter game XDefiant, just a few months months after its May release. This decision, confirmed by Ubisoft’s chief Studios and portfolio officer Marie-Sophie de Waubert, has also resulted in the closure of three production studios and the loss of 277 jobs. The announcement comes despite Ubisoft denying reports in October that it was planning to shut down the game.
