India’s IT spending is projected to reach $160 billion in 2025, representing an 11.2 per cent increase from 2024, according to Gartner’s latest forecast. Naveen Mishra, VP Analyst at Gartner, noted that Indian chief information officers (CIOs) will begin allocating budgets for generative AI (GenAI) beyond initial proof-of-concept projects in 2025. However, while GenAI spending will increase, CIOs’ expectations for its capabilities are expected to diminish. Additionally, Indian CIOs are predicted to significantly boost spending on cybersecurity, business intelligence and data analytics compared to 2024.
