Australia passes ‘toughest social media law’ globally; to hurt Instagram, Facebook and TikTok

In a landmark move, Australia has passed a law banning social media access for children under 16. The legislation, passed on Thursday (November 28), requires tech giants like Meta (owner of Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok, among other platforms, to prevent minors from logging in or face hefty fines of up to A$49.5 million ($32 million).
