TikTok owner ByteDance sues intern for $1.1 mn in damages over AI breach; all about the headline-grabbing case in China
ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of the social media platform TikTok, sued a former intern for $1.1 million in compensation, alleging that the person attacked the company’s artificial intelligence large language model (AI LLM) training infrastructure, reported Reuters, citing a govt-owned news portal Legal Weekly on Thursday, November 28.
The intern vs. ByteDance case has drawn widespread attention in China amid a heated AI race. According to the report, the company is asking for 8 million yuan ($1.1 million) in damages from the former intern Tian Keyu, according to the lawsuit filed in Haidian District People’s Court in Beijing.
