Elon Musk clears ‘doubts’ on Mars colonisation plans: “I’m not going to ask for…”

Elon Musk recently took to his social media platform X (earlier Twitter) to respond to astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson’s criticism of his Mars colonisation plans. The Tesla CEO has envisioned establishing a self-sustaining colony on Mars as crucial for humanity’s long-term survival for a long time. Musk’s company SpaceX’s Mars program is also actively developing the technology to transport humans to Mars and create a large-scale settlement, to safeguard the human species in case Earth becomes uninhabitable. While speaking on Bill Maher’s recent talk show, Tyson dismissed Musk’s vision as an investment with no returns. This sparked a response from Musk whose vision contradicts Tyson’s focus on addressing Earth’s immediate challenges.
