This is how much Google may get if forced to sell Chrome browser
Google’s Chrome browser could fetch a price tag of up to $20 billion if antitrust regulators succeed in forcing its sale, according to Bloomberg News, highlighting the massive value of the world’s most popular web browser.
The estimated valuation, which Bloomberg Intelligence attributes to Chrome’s more than 3 billion monthly active users, comes as the US Department of Justice prepares to ask a federal judge to order the browser’s divestiture from Google’s parent company, Alphabet.
Chrome’s value stems from its dominant 61% market share and its critical role in Google’s advertising ecosystem, where user data helps the company target ads more effectively. The browser also serves as a key distribution channel for Google’s AI products.
