Delhi fake stock trading: Chinese national arrested for duping accountant of Rs 43.5 L

A Chinese national, suspected to be linked to several cases of fake stock trading via WhatsApp groups, has been arrested for allegedly duping an accountant of Rs 43.5 lakh, police sources said Monday. The accused has been identified as Fang Chenjin.

According to the accountant’s complaint to the cyber-crime portal, he joined two different WhatsApp groups in February and March this year at the invitation of unknown persons. He attended several sessions in the groups that provided training on market analysis to buy and sell shares. “Soon, he was lured to invest money by trading in stocks. He fell into the trap and deposited about Rs 43.5 lakh in several accounts,” the complaint stated.
