Apple supplier Foxconn’s new job ad for iPhone factory in India: ‘AC, free transport, hostel, canteen and a monthly salary of ….’
Apple supplier Foxconn has directed its Indian recruitment agencies to eliminate age, gender, and marital status requirements from job advertisements for iPhone assembly positions, following media scrutiny of its hiring practices. Instead, the company is now promoting the benefits of job.
According to Reuters, the Taiwan-based manufacturer also instructed recruiters to remove the company’s name from job postings and provided them with standardised templates for future advertisements. The changes came after a June investigation revealed that Foxconn had been excluding married women from iPhone assembly roles at its Sriperumbudur plant near Chennai.
