The iMac G4’s ‘lamp’ design may make a comeback in Apple’s upcoming smart display

Apple’s upcoming smart home display will feature a design reminiscent of the iconic iMac G4 from the early 2000s, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The device, expected to launch next year, will sport a square display mounted on a hemispherical base, echoing the distinctive aesthetic of Apple’s beloved desktop computer.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman reveals that the display will be notably compact, measuring approximately the size of two iPhones placed side by side. The base is expected to house speakers, effectively functioning as a HomePod with an integrated screen.
