Facebook-parent Meta, TikTok face $525 million lawsuits in Brazil; here’s why

Brazil’s Collective Defense Institute has filed lawsuits against social media giants TikTok, Facebook-parent Meta and Kwai, reports Reuters. The report says that the organisation filed two lawsuits alleging their failure to create mechanisms to prevent excess use of these social media platforms by minors. The lawsuits demand 3 billion reais ($525.27 million) from the Brazilian units of TikTok, Kwai and Meta Platforms.
