Pune : On the on the pretext of retuning a charger senior citizens loses Rs 5.3 lakhs

A 71 year old Pune senior citizen, who wanted to return a phone charger he had purchased online for Rs 800, lost over Rs 5.3 lakh after connecting with a fraudulent customer care number of the e-commerce platform where cyber criminals manipulated him into sharing multiple One Time Passwords (OTPs) to siphoned funds from his account

An FIR in the case was registered at Parvati police station earlier this week by the 71-year-old retired Pune citizen, a resident of Sahakar Nagar. A few months ago, he had bought a phone charger for a car from a well known e-commerce platform for around Rs 800. Some time later, the charger stopped working.
