TRAI refuses to issue consultation paper for spectrum allocation
NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Wednesday refused to issue a new consultation paper for spectrum allocation to satellite communication players.
This move goes against the demand of India’s top telecom service provider, Reliance Jio, which advocates for an auction method for satellite spectrum allocation. Anil Kumar Lahoti, chairman of TRAI, said it is reviewing the comments on the existing consultation paper on spectrum allocation to firms from all stakeholders. However, he didn’t address the possibility of issuing another consultation paper.
